Some Of The Adoption Success Stories - Louis and Aida
Louis and Aida - September 2012
Louis was found on 29 June dumped in a shoe box in Samos Town. He was very sick with Cat Flu - he could hardly see and not smell anything, and was hardly moving. We took him immediately to the local vet, who suggested various medicines to improve his health. The vet said it was a 50/50 chance if he would pull through. The photo of the left shows Louis on the day we found him.
Slowly over the next days, his condition improved as the medicines worked. Luckily for Louis, we were able to find him a foster home with one of our supporters in Samos. Although Louis remained a little sensitive to light, his Cat Flu was cured and he grew stronger by the day.
The story of Louis, how we found him and how he was making a recovery captured the hearts of many of our supporters on our Facebook pages during the summer of 2012. One of those supporters told us that she had fallen in love with Louis and wanted to offer him a forever home in Austria!
On 9 August, we took Louis to the vet in Samos to have a full blood test and arrange his Pet Passport. Everything came back negative a few days later, so he was declared "fit to travel". Our next challenge was to find him a Flight Escort for his journey.
The story of Aida was also one of initial sadness. Aida was found with her brother (Sam) in a derelict building in Samos without their mother. They were handed to us for care, and we immediately put them both in the foster home where we were keeping Louis. Although Aida was close to her brother Sam, her love for Louis was great and they became a pair of happy kittens.
Aida was not initially so sick as Louis, but she had a few initial problems (possibly from living in such awful conditions before she was found), Slowly, she gained her full health and became a happy healthy kitten.
Because of the love between Louis and Aida, it was clear that it would be impossible to seperate them and we agreed that they should be re-homed together.
On 20 September Louis and Aida travelled with Austrian Airlines to their new forever home.
