Some Of The Adoption Success Stories - Geri
Geri - January 2013
Geri was found as a very young kitten wandering in the streets of Samos. Our volunteers noticed immediately that she was not walking very well and decided to take a look. It was quickly apparent that her back leg had a problem, so without further delay an appointment was made at the local vet.
An x-ray revealed that Geri had broken her leg and an operation was necessary. On 14 December, an emergency operation was made to insert a pin into her leg to keep the leg bones in place. After the operation, we placed her in one of our foster homes for recovery.
Geri was now walking normally and making great progress. She was taking medicines to help her heal and to promote bone strength. However, on 24 December, the pin in her leg broke through the skin and came out without any warning. We took her immediately back to the vet who after another x-ray suggested that the muscle tissue had kept the bones in place and it would not be necessary to undertake another operation.
Geri continued in her foster home for the next weeks, eating well, taking her medicines and growing bigger by the day. She was a happy and healthy kitten but still restricted to light play only.
During the time in her foster home in Samos, she broke the heart of one of our supporters who agreed to offer Geri and forever home in Basel, Switzerland. We happily agreed, and arranged for Geri to have her Pet Passport issued.
On 31 January 2013, Geri travelled via Athens to her new home, where she is reported to be very happy.
